The Oklahoma Trucking Association has a long history of supporting the Oklahoma trucking industry through legislative representation, support programs, discounts on equipment and services, training, and many more valuable benefits since 1932. Member companies include hundreds of Oklahoma-based trucking organizations of all sizes, primarily small businesses that help drive their local economies by supporting other area local businesses.
Oklahoma Trucking and the Economy
The Oklahoma trucking industry provides the state with nearly 83,000 jobs; about one of every 15 jobs in Oklahoma falls within the trucking industry. Beyond the economic support of providing jobs to Oklahoma citizens and the state with tax revenue, the Oklahoma trucking industry also supports the state by providing goods and shipping services to Oklahoma communities, over 75% of which depend exclusively on trucking to move their goods.
Oklahoma trucking operations pay more than $500 million state and federal taxes, and the industry as a whole generally pays much more in taxes than other types of businesses. A typical five-axle tractor-semitrailer combination pays roughly $3,700 in state highway user fees and taxes and almost $9,000 in federal fees and taxes each year. The Oklahoma trucking industry is incredibly important to the state’s economy and the distribution network of the American Midwest, and the Oklahoma Trucking Association has supported this vital industry for many decades.
What Does the Oklahoma Trucking Association Offer?
More than 10,000 trucking companies operate out of Oklahoma, and several hundred of these companies are members of the Oklahoma Trucking Association. Member companies and their employees enjoy various benefits, including representation before legislature at all levels, discounts, training programs, and recruitment services. Over the years, the efforts of the Oklahoma Trucking Association have promoted and protected the interests of Oklahoma trucking companies and their employees. This nonprofit, member-driven organization has helped pass Tort Reform and Workers’ Compensation Reform in Oklahoma and regularly works with the Oklahoma legislature and the United States Congress to ensure the viability of the Oklahoma trucking industry.
